Band InterviewWho We Are
The Cosmic Stepping Stones (C.S.S.) is an alternative
pop/rock band. Although C.S.S. became well established in 1999 when voted top original rock band in Buffalo, N.Y., the band has evolved into a more powerful group. There are many, talented features to the band
starting with Leah Pinnavaia who was voted top original female vocalist in the Buffalo Music Awards for both 1999 and 2000. Leah has a powerful, 6.5 octave vocal range, has studied music since childhood (voice,
clarinet, keyboards). Guitarist Joseph Pinnavaia has an impressive style developed through receiving his BA in music from the University of Buffalo, AAS in music from Villa Maria College. C.S.S. has
performed in clubs, record stores and coffeehouses in the Northeast area of the U.S. After three independent CD releases, C.S.S. has taken a new a refreshing approach to their music.
Releases include: first CD release Symbiotica (1996) and second CD release Garden (1998); numerous compilation CDs including TRS Radio Deadly Sampler (1999),College Music Journal's
Certain Damage (1998), The Buffalo Music Collective's Music from Here Volumes 1 and 2 (1997 and 1998), and Siberia Records' No Moss (1995) where C.S.S. did a Rolling Stones "Gimme
Shelter" tribute, C.S.S.'s version of Jingle Bells was released in 2001 on North Coast Noel compilation disc based out of Cleveland, Ohio and received radio airplay in Cleveland during the
holidays and raised money for the 911 relief fund. Leah was a featured vocalist on Stand America which raised money for 911 relief fund. C.S.S. has also received consistent radio
airplay of their song "Dis-co" in San Marco, California on KKSM radio Q3 and other college radio stations throughout the North East. Their Garden single "Only if You Feel" has been on regular
